Please join The Nonprofit Partnership and Imad Diab, Program Manager and Diversity Trainer with the Multicultural Community Resource Center on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 for "Introduction to Diversity: Embracing Multiculturalism in Erie Communities and Workplaces."

This workshop is specially designed to enrich participants' understanding of the vibrant multicultural landscape of Erie communities and the contemporary workplace. Our primary focus is to demystify the concept of diversity, exploring its true essence beyond common misconceptions and narrow categorizations.
Key Objectives:

Understanding Diversity: Participants will gain a comprehensive insight into what diversity truly means, moving beyond simplistic definitions. This segment will challenge preconceived notions and expand the horizon of understanding to include the rich tapestry of human differences.

Awareness and Sensitivity: The workshop aims to heighten awareness and sensitivity towards diverse issues. We will delve into various aspects of diversity that transcend traditional categories, fostering a deeper appreciation for the multifaceted nature of human backgrounds and experiences.

Erie Communities - Culture, Religion, and Ethnic Background: A significant portion of the workshop will be dedicated to exploring the unique cultural, religious, and ethnic makeup of Erie communities. Participants will learn about the diverse groups that enrich the Erie area, enhancing their ability to engage with and respect the varied backgrounds of their colleagues and community members.

More about Imad:
Imad Diab, Program Manager and Diversity Trainer at the Multicultural Community Resource Center and adjunct faculty at Erie Community College, has over 20 years of experience in the fields of education, employability & soft skills, sustainable development, and international affairs. He graduated with a master’s degree in communication studies from the University of Edinboro of Pennsylvania. He also obtained a graduate certificate in conflict & crisis management at Edinboro and got his teaching certificate from Cambridge University, UK. From 2012-2019, he taught Middle Eastern culture and Arabic language for non-Arabic speakers at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. While there, he also conducted orientation for international students. From 2018-2022, Imad taught at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi & Dubai. He taught international business, Business English, and diversity in the workplace. Imad has a lifetime of living in and understanding different cultures and has spent his adult life getting an education and working in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
